Yes, bathing.
In water.
So now at least a few times a week I get to endure long whining sessions about guinea pig bathing. Lola seems to have it on her life list to bath our guinea pig in the sink, which of course, sounds like a horrible idea to me. So far the guinea pig remains dry, but I don't know how long I can keep the little guy out of the sink!
I have been a bit delinquent in my blogging lately, as the summer has been so busy. We are officially moving to a new house in the country soon, and have been frantically trying to get this house ready to sell, and the new house ready to move into. Despite all the business, we have had plenty of time to play.
A few weekends ago we went to the "big city" to visit the rides there. Lola had a blast riding the rides, as she was finally big enough to do many of them by herself or with me. Rowan enjoyed the sights from the stroller. It will be awhile before he can ride with the big kids.
We did a lot of hanging out at home and playing in the back yard. The kiddie pools have been really big hits in this heat. Most of the time we actually get into swim suits, but occasionally I find one or both kids sitting in the pool in their clothes. Rowan is the worst offender for fully clothed swimming. Oh well!
Wil and I had our first trip away from the kids. We went to Seattle for a veterinary convention together, and left the kiddos in the capable hands of two babysitters. They had a blast, and so did we! We even went to a restaurant called "Lola" which was made even more interesting by the fact that it was located in the "Hotel Andra". Lola was delighted when I e-mailed her pictures of the restaurant and brought her home some sugar packets with her name on them! We really enjoyed seeing our friends from vet school. It was almost like old times again!
Our first real camping trip was pretty fun, despite some killer mosquitoes. We drove up to Northern Idaho to go garnet digging, which the kids thoroughly enjoyed. Rowan has been once before, but he was just a tiny baby then and wasn't able to really dig in the dirt. This time he got down and dirty, and we came away with lots of good garnets. The kids really like camping in our retro little RV. We roasted hot dogs and marshmallows, and then everyone slept in the next day, enjoying every last bit of our family time that weekend.
We celebrated the 4th of July in style with some family friends. Our house provides a fantastic view of town, and we enjoyed an awesome fireworks display! It is almost sad that this might be the last time we enjoy this wonderful view of town.
Finally, the big Wiggles day arrived. We drove up to see the Wiggles perform live, which thrilled Lola for about 45 minutes, and then she remained only moderately in to the performance, perking up at the end when they did "Twinkle Twinkle". It was really the first time I have every taken her to anything like that, and she actually did very well.
